EnergyTransformation’s new report, “Harnessing Innovation to Make Unconventional Gas Conventional” will be released on November 25th, 2013 in a breakfast briefing session in Brussels. The report outlines how large and small innovative companies are addressing the environmental challenges of shale gas development, just as they drove the technology that led to the unlocking of shale gas over the last twenty years in North America.

Tore Land, President & CEO of TouGas Oilfield Solutions, says their proprietary technology, “improves productivity and eliminates the need to use fresh water in the fracking process”, an innovation that has been described as the “critical issue” by Kurt Lonsway, Acting Director of Energy, Environment and Climate Change at the African Development Bank.

Harnessing Innovation to Make Unconventional Gas Conventional features interviews with key opinion leaders including the International Energy Agency, European Commission and Members of the European Parliament, providing a detailed overview of how innovation is impacting the unconventional oil & gas sector.

The study was written by Jeremy Bowden, Head of Research at EnergyTransformation.EU, who has twenty-years experience as a journalist and researcher with IHS-CERA, Dow Jones, the Wall Street Journal Asia, and Energy Argus. Bowden says, “Europe’s stagnating and resource-poor economy needs the benefits shale gas can provide even more than the United States, but only the highest operational standards can be acceptable in such a heavily populated and sensitive region, which will stretch the innovative capabilities of companies focused on the sector.”

Participants at the release of the report will include Marcelo Masera, Head of the Energy Security Unit of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre; Ed Crooks, US Industry and Energy Editor of The Financial Times; and Constantine Levoyannis, Europe Freedom & Democracy Energy Adviser to the Industry, Research and Energy Committee (ITRE).
